HonorVet Technologies is seeking a travel nurse RN Outpatient Clinic for a travel nursing job in Sacramento, California.

Unit Description – Dermatology Clinic (Outpatient)

Type of Care:

• Outpatient dermatology care for both common and complex skin conditions.
• Provides services in general dermatology, MOHS surgery, dermatologic surgery, phototherapy, photodynamic therapy, laser procedures, tele-dermatology, and cosmetic dermatology.

Patient Population:

• Neonates through geriatrics.
• Patients presenting with conditions such as acne, eczema, psoriasis, bullous disease, skin cancer, wounds, and other dermatologic disorders.

Average Volume:

• Approximately 100 patient visits per day.

Shift & Schedule:

• 8-hour shifts (08:00 AM – 05:00 PM).
• Monday–Friday schedule, may vary per department needs.
• No weekend or holiday rotation unless otherwise specified.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide total, continuous, and patient-centered dermatologic nursing care.
• Assist in specialized procedures such as MOHS surgery, laser treatments, biopsies, and photodynamic therapy.
• Perform complex wound care and dressing changes.
• Support physicians and providers in minor surgical and diagnostic procedures.
• Conduct patient education and discharge instructions for wound care and post-procedure care.
• Complete in-basket work and ensure patient satisfaction through clear communication and efficient coordination.

Equipment & Procedures:

• Uses punch and shave biopsy trays, sterile instruments, and procedure sets.
• Involved in setting up sterile and aseptic fields, suture removal, and specimen labeling.
• Supports use of light-based therapy equipment (e.g., phototherapy units).

Systems & Communication:

• Documentation: Epic
• Communication: SBAR
• Medication System: Pyxis

Certifications:

• Required: BLS
• Preferred: ACLS

Skills Required:

• Proficiency in performing and assisting with skin biopsies, wound dressing, and dermatologic procedures.
• Competence in medication administration (IM, subcutaneous, intradermal, IV).
• Specimen collection and labeling (blood, urine, tissue).
• Experience with telehealth systems and electronic documentation.
• Ability to triage patients and manage clinic flow efficiently.

Experience Requirements:

• Minimum 1 year of ambulatory or outpatient clinic RN experience required.
• Dermatology or procedural clinic experience preferred.

Support Services:

• Access to pharmacy, lab, radiology, social services, and interpretation services.
• Collaboration with dermatologists, surgeons, nurse practitioners, and medical assistants.

Orientation & Additional Info:

• Orientation based on experience and clinic needs.
• Scrubs: Provided.
• Environment: Teaching hospital setting with fast-paced, multidisciplinary care team.
