The Research & Analytics Manager leads complex economic and market analyses to inform the organization's strategies for business attraction and retention, industry cluster growth, workforce development, and regional competitiveness. This role transforms diverse economic, demographic, and industry data into actionable insights that support strategic decision-making, policy advocacy, and communications about the region's economic strengths. Requirements:
Design and implement research projects analyzing economic trends, industry clusters, labor markets, and business conditions relevant to the Southwestern Pennsylvania region.
• Develop and maintain regional economic indicators, dashboards, and analytical reports to identify emerging trends, track performance, communicate key business and economic developments, and inform growth strategies.
• Manage data collection across multiple public and proprietary sources to conduct and automate analyses and visualization, and to generate actionable insights that guide economic development efforts.
• Respond to information requests from internal and external stakeholders regarding the regional business environment, demographics, and economic trends and provide analytical and research support for related initiatives, investment proposals, and policy recommendations.
• Participate in building relationships with industry and economic development organizations to gather strategic information.
• Manage and enhance information systems, including databases, online resources, and research tools, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and accessibility of data. Ensure data integrity, methodological rigor, and clarity in all research outputs and documentation.
Qualifications
• Degree in Economics, Public Policy, Data Analytics, Statistics, Urban Planning, or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in economic research, analytics, or strategic planning, preferably in a public, nonprofit, or consulting environment.
• Demonstrated proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools such as Excel, Power BI, Tableau, SQL, Stata, R, or Python.
• Strong ability to balance multiple priorities, collaborating effectively across cross-functional teams, and maintaining effective communication.
• Strong ability to translate complex data into insights and compelling narratives and communicate technical findings clearly to diverse audiences.
• Excellent project management, analytical, writing, and presentation skills.
• Demonstrated ability to self-direct when necessary and acquire new skills efficiently and on an ongoing basis.
