Job Description Job Description Locum Tenens PA or NP – Inpatient Surgical Night Coverage Edison, New Jersey $135/hour $5/hour night differential 7:00 PM – 8:00 AM | 2–3 shifts/week preferred 10–12 month contract | No call required We are seeking an experienced Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) to provide night shift inpatient coverage for general surgery and surgical subspecialty patients. This is a locum tenens position with an immediate start, covering surgical patients postoperatively, managing floor patients, and responding to consults. No OR/first assist duties are required. Position Highlights: Inpatient only – no OR time or first assist Manage post-op care, surgical consults, and floor patients 2 APPs typically staffed per night during high census/OR days Estimated patient load: 40–50 patients (shared) Length of assignment: 10–12 months No trauma surgery involvement Emergency/temporary privileges can be expedited Required Skills & Experience: Proficiency in: VAC dressing changes JP drain management NGT placement/management Chest tube management Doppler use for vascular monitoring (e.g., skin flaps) Comfort with high-volume surgical inpatient settings NJ license, DEA, and CDS required Must be local to the area or willing to commute Experience in general or subspecialty surgery preferred Compensation: $135/hour base pay $5/hour night differential 1099 contractor role Apply now to join a supportive surgical team providing vital night coverage at a well-respected New Jersey facility.
